To reduce the noise nuisance experienced by residents living in the centre of Meise, sound barriers were placed along both sides of the A12 in the vicinity of Jan Krokaertstraat, Zonnelaan, Koningin Astridlaan, Victor Ameryckxstraat, Hendrik Van Dievoetlaan, Tronkstraat, August De Boeckstraat, Onze-Lieve-Vrouwweg and Kartuizerslaan.

The sound barrier is six or seven metres high and consists of steel profiles driven into the ground, with sound-absorbing panels in lightweight concrete in between, supported by a prefab concrete plinth. The screen is planted with greenery along the reverse side (in sight of the houses).
